cosmetic & facial rejuvenation acupuncture
a technique that involves the insertion of thin needles into areas of the face to help promote collagen production, facial elasticity, increase muscle tone, and improve the circulation of blood and lymphatics. This technique helps to rejuvenate facial tissue, soften and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, and reduce signs of aging. The goal of treatment is to naturally (without toxins, botox or fillers) plump and smooth the skin by stimulating your body’s anti-aging properties. Sessions include a custom cosmetic acupuncture protocol, facial cupping and gua sha. During your initial visit, you will also receive a skin health protocol which includes individualized suggestions to help optimize skin rejuvenation.
cosmetic acupuncture can target and reduce the appearance of: fine lines, puffiness, under-eye bags, frown lines, crows feet, scaring, acne, sun damage, eyelid hooding, double chin, pores (can tighten), and muscle tone (brow and facial lifting).
cosmetic acupuncture is not suitable for the following individuals: high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, chronic migraines, pregnant, on blood thinning medication, botox/injectables in the past 4 months (can reverse effects), cosmetic surgery in the past 6 months, and skin resurfacing in the past 4 weeks.
the recommended protocol is 2 sessions per week for 3 weeks, 1 session per week for 6 weeks, and then once per month ongoing for maintenance OR 1 session per week for 12 weeks, and then once per month ongoing for maintenance. Everyone is different, and after an initial intake we will be able to provide an individualized treatment suggestion. After the main sessions have been completed, results may vary and depend on the age of the patient, the bodies response to needle stimulation (and cupping, gua sha), and lifestyle and skin health behaviours. Results are also cumulative, which means that concerns will often continue to improve with each treatment. Maintenance is recommended at once per month, as this can maintain your results for years to come.
side effects of treatment are rare, however, normal effects of the procedure can include soreness, pain, and redness where needles have been inserted. Bruising may also occur. These effects typically go away a few days after treatment.
